Woman Kills Herself Because She Was Approaching Thirty And Was Childless And Unmarried

There is certainly a lot of pressure of ladies to conform to the expectations society places on them- see Gifty Anti: but this British lady took it to the extreme when she took her life.

Her reason, having gotten to the ripe old age of 30, without being married or having had kids, according to the Telegraph.

Rachel Gowe, 29, drank poison at her home in Haslingden, Lancashire. An inquest into her death heard she felt troubled she was approaching thirty and had been unable to get married or have kids. She was worried other members of her family were doing better than her and that her boyfriend would leave her.

Golden Movie Awards – Africa – a new-fangled awards scheme which seeks to honor individuals in the African movie industry who have impacted and excelled in their acting careers– was officially launched in Accra on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.

The awards system which comprises of 21 faculty members and a grand jury is open to all film-makers across Africa

Speaking at the launch, Country Director of Golden Movie Awards – Africa, Wilhelmina Abu-Andani, stressed that it was the intent of the organizers to set up a credible awards scheme which would match the continental standard of excellence, hence the formation of the Golden Movie Awards – Africa. According to her, “this award has come to stay for good.”

Renowned Ghanaian TV personality-Gifty Anti, 45, has stated that even at her age she is not in a hurry to marry—despite having met the right man.

This may come as a shock to many Ghanaian women—considering the fact that, marriage continues to hold a high position as a source of a woman’s dignity in our society.

Gifty Anti is reported to have told Graphic Showbiz that, “I don’t hate men and I’m not against marriage. Besides, it is not the woman who decides but the man. The woman can only drop hints but the final decision depends on the man and what he wants. I think I will marry when my man is ready but if not, I don’t think I’m so desperate for it”.

She also talked about how family has been pressuring her to get married—forgetting that God’s time is the best.

50 Cent has weighed in on the ongoing Beyonce/Beck Grammy Album of the Year controversy. His longtime rival Kanye West stated that Beyonce deserved the highly-coveted award over Beck, the winner.

50 Cent however disagree with the ‘Only One’ artist. He thinks Becks deserves the award because he solely wrote and produced the album while Beyonce had a team of writers and producers on her self-titled album.

This sad case continues to get sadder by the day, as at the moment Bobbi is pretty much gone and only the ‘hope for a miracle’ is keeping her on this planet.

Whilst the cause for Bobbi almost drowning has not been conclusively found, TMZ reports police have began to suspect foul play might have led to her almost drowning in her bathtub that day.

The initial story when the news broke was that Nick and a friend found Bobbi, the friend called 911 whilst Nick administered CPR. Whilst this might seem innocuous enough, Police have discovered a few things that have piqued their interest in Nick as a possible suspect.

Columbian ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer Shakira and her husband, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, last night welcomed their second child into this world.

The new addition, a boy, was born without incident in Barcelona late Thursday night, barely 24 hours after Pique had turned out for Barcelona in their 4-2 aggregate win over Athletico Madrid in the Spanish King’s Cup.

The 37 year old Shakira underwent a planned caesarean at the Quiron Teknon Hospital in Barcelona where they reside. It was the same hospital where their first child, two year old Milan, was born.

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)-Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia who made headlines for wearing a fur coat which looks like that of a woman as part of President Mahama’s entourage to Germany has spoken—saying, Ghanaians are those making a big deal about his coat since no white person even spoke about his ‘beautiful’ coat.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the fur coat which has become the talk of Ghana was bought by his wife-Vida Asiedu Nketia when she visited Canada. Going to Germany, he knew it was going to be cold and since he was just going to be there for 3 days, he decided to go with that coat, he said.

Speaking to Kumasi based Hello FM, Asiedu Nketia wondered what the big deal is; since he was in Germany to work for the betterment of Ghana and to attend a fashion show or to showcase his sense of style.

Rihanna was a ravishing sight as usual, donning a gold sequin coat with a fur trim. Her close friend and fellow pop star, Katy Perry also looked gorgeous in an all pink attire.

Daily 2015 AFCON Round-Up: Favourites Cameroon And Cote D’Ivoire Held in Group D Stalemates

The final day of first round games came to an end in the African Cup of Nations today as the favourites in Group D found themselves both on the wrong end of 1-1 draws.

The Black Stars had been humbled 2-1 by Senegal, whilst in the other Group C game Algeria beat South Africa 3-1; but for the rest of the continent the tournament continued unabated.

Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon had both been set up as early favourites for qualification from Group D, but minnows Guinea and Mali both had other ideas. In the end, both giants had to fight from a goal down to secure disappointing 1-1 draws.

This tournament has had an unhealthy attachment to 1-1 draws, and Group D’s first game never looked like going that route. Both sides started brightly, the Ivoirians with their incredible array of talents including Manchester City’s Yaya Toure, new teammate Wilfried Bony, and A.S Roma’s Gervinho controlling play.

Eazzy has released her latest single-Ginger, which is more of a rip-off of Nigeria’s Yemi Alade’s hit song-Johnny.

It’s not a problem when a musician takes inspiration from another—but to jump unto the melody of another because it’s trending is quite pathetic.

If music is about creativity, then our Ghanaian artistes seem to be lacking in that department. We are always playing second to the creative minds else where setting trends.
